Hey it's been a long time everyone.  I've been working a lot these days and life's been busy in general.  I'm still alive though!

I hope you all had great summer.  Here is a quick doodle I did for a mental break.

Rock Fish

Messing around with another art app called Krita, I've been hearing about it a lot lately.  I first heard of it back in the day when I used Linux exclusively and I was looking for Photoshop alternatives.  Anyways, I don't remember trying it then, but after taking it for a swing today on Windows.  I have to say, this program is a real contender. I've come away very very impressed!  Very artist friendly.

Definitely worth checking out.

As if that wasn't enough, the program is FREE!  Crazy times we're living in!

Take care folks,

Wolverine sculpt made in 3D Coat

I made this over the course of a few days doing a little bit here and there.  It started out as a guy, then turned into a boxer, then turned into Wolverine!  I hope you like it!

I made it in 3D Coat.

Peace!

Illustrations for the Milken Review

Recently I was commissioned to do some illustrations for the Milken review.  It was a financial article about the global monetary system.  Pretty interesting stuff actually.

Anyways, here are some of the illustrations I created!

United Way Calendar - August

At work we're doing fundraising for United Way, I got the month of August, this is what I did.

It was either this or some kids swimming in a pond...I tried doing that, but I just ended up spending more time doing this.

Bball Player progress

Every good basketball player needs a nickname, I think I'm going to call this guy 'The Preacher'.

Going to add some more tattoos, fix his shoes and socks up some more...fix the back, possibly revisit the hands and maybe the hair too.  Neck and trapezius could use some attention too.  I will likely tighten up the face a little more also.

Lots to do still, not to mention retopo, proper texture maps and rigging.

Should be fun though.

Take care,

More progress!

A bit more progress...still need to do the shoes, just a rough to get a sense of the face with colour.

Some Cloverpaint doodles

Hey folks,

Anyone who knows me knows I love trying out new art applications and hardware, well there's one I've been using for a little while now called Cloverpaint, which is an AWESOME painting app for the Android.

I've been using it along with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and it's been the closest thing to working with Photoshop on a tablet that I've experienced.

It's got fully customizable brushes and pressure sensetivity...it allows you to program the buttons on your stylus and the different buttons on your tablet (vol up, vol down) which is great for workflow.

The UI is a bit confusing and in certain places clunky, but the brushing and overall performance, not to mention the sheer amount of customizable features is pretty impressive.

With the new Wacom Android tablet coming out and the new Note 3 phone, this application will be a must have for a lot of people.

Anyways, here is some art that I've created using the application on my Note 10.1

Some progress on my bball dude...did some work on his hands and changed his nose.  Also started working on the shoes...Still need to work out the texture on the hair and polish up the back, as well as some overall polishing and refinement.

Paint demo

Here is the youtube video, for some reason there are black bars going across the screen, not sure why that happened, but I'll fix it for next time.  Audio also was not the greatest.  Again, I'll look into it for next time.

Hope you find it helpful.

Minion

This is a character from a game I'm working on.  I did this painting from a sketch tonight it took me about 2 hours in Photoshop.  I also recorded a video of me painting it, which I'll post on Youtube.

I hope you like it.  It's so late right now, I can't even tell how I feel about it.

Take care folks,

Gavin

3D Coat sculpt to test out new brush engine.

Testing out the latest version of 3D coat, the sculpting experience was very nice and smooth...I felt like I was just thinking and the program was creating what I intended.

Pretty neat...I highly recommend it to 2D people interested in branching out to 3D.

Bballer 3D practice (WIP)

Some sculpting practice in 3D Coat, still needs some work, especially on the hands and back, but I like the direction so far...It'd be nice to get some input though.

Let me know what you think and maybe I can find time to make some adjustments.

Cheers,

G
