Variety and Harmony a.k.a. Contrast and Affinity

This is a demo piece I did during my character design class at Centennial.  I was trying to show how you can use harmony and contrast in the application of your design elements (line, shape, value, texture, colour)  to create an interesting and unified design.  In this case I was working with shape, value and a little bit of texture.

Morning sketches on the GO train

These are some sketches I did on the GO train on the way to work.  The top is some people I saw sitting and using their phones.  The bottom is just a sketch of a guy name Harold walking his rambunctious dog.

Take care,

Digital paint demo

I did a quick digital paint demo one day at work during lunch.

People kept throwing me ideas and asking me questions like, how would you make his head on fire, or if you gave him hair...stuff like that which I incorporated into the sketch and which made it a cooler concept than is was initially.

Take care,

Gavin
