United Way Calendar - August
At work we're doing fundraising for United Way, I got the month of August, this is what I did.
It was either this or some kids swimming in a pond...I tried doing that, but I just ended up spending more time doing this.
Cheers,
G

Bball Player progress
Every good basketball player needs a nickname, I think I'm going to call this guy 'The Preacher'.
Going to add some more tattoos, fix his shoes and socks up some more...fix the back, possibly revisit the hands and maybe the hair too. Neck and trapezius could use some attention too. I will likely tighten up the face a little more also.
Lots to do still, not to mention retopo, proper texture maps and rigging.
Should be fun though.
Take care,
G

Some Cloverpaint doodles
Hey folks,
Anyone who knows me knows I love trying out new art applications and hardware, well there's one I've been using for a little while now called Cloverpaint, which is an AWESOME painting app for the Android.
I've been using it along with my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and it's been the closest thing to working with Photoshop on a tablet that I've experienced.
It's got fully customizable brushes and pressure sensetivity...it allows you to program the buttons on your stylus and the different buttons on your tablet (vol up, vol down) which is great for workflow.
The UI is a bit confusing and in certain places clunky, but the brushing and overall performance, not to mention the sheer amount of customizable features is pretty impressive.
With the new Wacom Android tablet coming out and the new Note 3 phone, this application will be a must have for a lot of people.
Anyways, here is some art that I've created using the application on my Note 10.1

Hope you find it helpful.

Minion
This is a character from a game I'm working on. I did this painting from a sketch tonight it took me about 2 hours in Photoshop. I also recorded a video of me painting it, which I'll post on Youtube.
I hope you like it. It's so late right now, I can't even tell how I feel about it.
Take care folks,
Gavin

3D Coat sculpt to test out new brush engine.
Testing out the latest version of 3D coat, the sculpting experience was very nice and smooth...I felt like I was just thinking and the program was creating what I intended.
Pretty neat...I highly recommend it to 2D people interested in branching out to 3D.

Bballer 3D practice (WIP)
Some sculpting practice in 3D Coat, still needs some work, especially on the hands and back, but I like the direction so far...It'd be nice to get some input though.
Let me know what you think and maybe I can find time to make some adjustments.
Cheers,

Some 3D W I P
Been working a lot in 3d lately with Blender and 3D Coat. It's still a work in progress, but hopefully soon, I'll be able to do something nice.
Here is a work in progress of a mesh I'm working on in Blender. I did the design in Back too..I also have a side view which cannot be seen here.
I'm realizing that you almost have to put on your design hat once you get into 3d, because the reference images (front view and side view) might not turn out that great in 3d.
Peace out,
Gavin
